Oman World’s Safest Countrie

Oman has been ranked as one of the safest countries in the world, with 94% of its citizens feeling safe walking alone at night, according to the Gallup 2025 Global Safety Report. This places Oman alongside global safety leaders like Singapore, China, and Saudi Arabia. The report surveyed 145,000 adults across 144 countries, assessing personal safety, confidence in law enforcement, and recent experiences with crime.

The high safety ranking reflects Oman’s effective governance, strong institutions, and reliable infrastructure. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) plays a vital role, maintaining visible patrols and responding quickly to safety concerns. Public safety is further enhanced by well-lit streets, pedestrian-friendly pathways, and secure public transport networks, all contributing to a safer urban environment.

Oman’s social fabric also strengthens its safety record. Cultural norms promoting respect, civility, and community responsibility foster a sense of security across both urban and rural areas. These factors help build trust in local governance and law enforcement, making Oman one of the top performers in global safety rankings.

In the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Oman leads the region, followed closely by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE, all with safety perceptions exceeding 90%. Globally, Singapore remains the leader with 98%, while South Africa recorded the lowest safety perception at just 33%. The report highlights the importance of trust and collective resilience in building a safe society.

The Gallup report also reveals a global gender gap in safety perceptions. Worldwide, 67% of women feel safe walking alone at night, compared to 78% of men. This underscores the need for targeted initiatives to improve safety for women and girls in countries worldwide.
